The air miles are racking up in 2023! This time up, team IP Fabric was headed to Nuremberg, Germany for the annual security-centric IT-SA Expo & Congress. A star-studded cast of Assurance aficionados was in attendance this time around:

  • Solutions Architects Milan Zapletal and Christian Giebner,
  • Channel Development Managers Tillman Kraeft and Vitek Savel,
  • Enterprise Account Executives Sameha Strong and Marvin-Michael Gampp,
  • and last but definitely not least, IP Fabric's resident events maestro, Libuse Travnickova.

The world of network security

The IT-SA conference is a must-visit for anyone interested in network and cybersecurity. Boasting a rich history dating back to its days as the Security Forum at Systems Munich, the event offers the chance to learn about a wide range of solutions and platforms to boost enterprise security. This year was no exception - with over 19,000 trade visitors from over 50 countries and 795 exhibitors from 30 countries, IP Fabric had to get in on the action!

The IP Fabric team had a clear goal in their sights - to highlight how the unprecedented visibility provided by Network Assurance can help enterprise network teams elevate their network security by highlighting potential vulnerabilities and boost their compliance.

Here's what Milan had to say about the event: "The IT-SA Expo was a great experience for us. It gave us the chance to have a lot of interesting discussions about network compliance and security. The main focus of these discussions was around IP Fabric's path simulation capabilities that can be used for testing open ports on firewalls and also our various integration possibilities - particularly the integration between IP Fabric and Splunk, which lets teams seamlessly integrate IP Fabric’s data within the Splunk Dashboard."

We are the knights who say 'Network Security'!

It's not often you attend a conference and meet a knight in shining armor... unless you're at IT-SA, then that is exactly what happens.

Unfortunately, defending your network with a set of sweet armor and a longsword isn't a realistic choice

Aside from getting to meet a real-life member of the security round table, there were lots of insightful conversations to be had.

These conversations highlighted one thing for the team, perhaps best summed up by Tillman: "As a predominantly security-focused event, we found through a lot of the conversations we had that, without proper network visibility, vulnerabilities still exist within security architectures. It's clear to us that IP Fabric has a role to play within the world of network security."

Whether it be enabling transparency between network and security teams, helping teams manage their security policies, or using end-to-end path simulation to test security measures, we agree with Tillman that IP Fabric can contribute to a more robust network security posture!

In their downtime after hours, the team made the most of the culinary scene in Nuremberg by dining out at some of the great restaurants on offer in the city. With nothing but positives from the event to take away from the event, all we can say is Auf Wiedersehen IT-SA!
